Limit Hold\'em Books
Ed Miller Recommendations:
Beginner level: Getting Started in Hold 'em by me Winning Low Limit Hold 'em, 3rd Edition only by Lee Jones Internet Texas Hold 'em by Matthew Hilger Intermediate Level: Small Stakes Hold 'em by me, David, and Mason Hold 'em Poker for Advanced Players by David and Mason Weighing the Odds in Limit Hold 'em by King Yao How Good is Your Limit Hold 'em by Jacobs and Brier I'm suprised that other books weren't mention in his limit hold'em book recommendations.I am curious to see whats others thought of these books and why they weren't recommended: 1. Middle Limit Holdem Poker 2. Texas Hold'em Odds 3. Doyle Brunson's Super System II (limit hold'em section) |

Re: Limit Hold\'em Books
I've got all the books you mention. Middle Limit Hold em has helped me as much as any. There's tons of hand quiz's at the end of each chapter.
I know the knock on it is that the advice is weak tight but I found it helped me a great deal. |

Re: Limit Hold\'em Books
Middle limit holdem is good. I found it very helpful in some areas.
Inside the Poker mind is right up there too. Odds books? Just about every holdem book goes over the odds of plays not to mention after awhile you can think of them on your own. So in that way, I see those books the least useful. But still have their place. b |

Re: Limit Hold\'em Books
MLH has to be taken with a dose of salt; there is some bad weak-tight advice in there. At the same time its section on over cards is very good, you just need to weed through the errors because games with opponents that tight/good just don't exist at the mid levels anymore.
SSII is SSHE reworked (and poorly at that). It’s a good quick refresher course with some shorthanded style mentality thrown in, but other than that it’s not that great. I highly recommend Byron Jacob's How Good is your Limit Hold'em. Nobody can say a bad thing about it, Mr. Miller just gave it a 10, and I would agree. PS: this topic is discussed a lot; try searching for past threads to see other opinions. TT [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] |

Re: Limit Hold\'em Books
Thanks for all your opionions guys, but I was more wondering why Mr. Miller didn't recommend those 3 books. He posted in another thread that he only recommends 7 books, these 3 not being on the list.
