Default AA hand, did I put on the brakes too soon?

First hand at the table, so no reads. I post my BB and voila, AA.

Is the check-raise on the flop the right move, or do you bet there instead?

When the board pairs on the turn and MP2 raises out of the blue is shutting down and check/calling the right move, or should I pop back for value due to the multi-way pot?

Thanks

Lead the flop. You were the last pre-flop aggressor, not someone else.

Bet the flop, for 2 reasons. You were the last raise PF, so if you check the flop there's a high degree of probability that it will check through. Second, CRing the flop pretty much announces your hand, "I have a big overpair".

Bet the flop & hope for a chance to reraise.

I think you played it fine.

I am more inclined to put MP2 on a set of 7's or 2's than 3 eights. I know you don't have any reads, but what hand with an 8 would you cold-call a pf raise and then a re-raise?

Edit: Missed the flop check. BET

No, CRing the flop was a clear mistake. There is much too bog a chance that nobody will bet if Hero doesn't. It would be a disaster if no bets went in on the flop.

While I think an occasional flop checkraise is a good idea with a big pair for a little bit of deceptive value, I think this is a terrible spot for it. No one is very likely to have a hand worth playing unless they have you beat or have a draw to beat you.

Besides that, I also call down like you did.

Thanks for the feedback. My flop mistake is clear to me now.

Result (no that it matters much, but...)
I ended up winning the hand. My opponent showed down - get this - 66 for the underpair.

I think that was probably the upside from checking the flop. You planted the idea in his head that you had AQ og AK, and he never changed his mind so he kept betting his pair thinking you hadn't improved.

Hi Plaxus,

I agree with what the others said about betting the Flop, but I am surprised to see that no one mentioned the great position you are in to have UTG+1 (the original pre-Flop raiser) raise and force the others to call two cold.

I would fold the Turn. I rarely find myself laying down overpairs post-Flop in large pots, but this guy is screaming that he has an 8. You've shown a lot of strength thus far in the hand by both 3-betting pre-Flop and check-raising the Flop, yet this guy is willing to raise both you AND a caller on the Turn. This is rarely a bluff or semi-bluff.
