Actually, what originally got me interested in reading/posting on 2+2 was the unofficial OIC that happened right before the one you described at TGC. Just like that original OIC based on LHE, I was actually going to do this as a "suicide/one-way-up ladder run"- once you hit 5x buy in you'd go up to the next level, and you'd never go down a rung. You'd just play each level until you're too broke, too nervous, or you make it to the next rung.

However, my memory of my OIC run is bitterweet- a glorious, dizzying headlong rush from $20 at $0.50-$1.00 straight up to the $15-$30 level, peaking at $1200+, followed by the big, bad Crash & Burn (aka returning to the mean and/or inevitable justice) bringing me all the way down to El Zippo in a few short hours. That's why I put in the Automatic Ladder Step-Down in the SLC when you go below 5 buy-ins... to save me from me.

If I make it all the way up to $200s this time, I'll bring in the Carnies to remove the safety gear and try it again without a net and try it that way too.

Thankfully, my current client has a firewall so I can't play at work. When people try to explain how I can get around it, I block my ears and say "naaaa, naaa naah"- I'm better off not knowing.

You actually reminded me of one thing that has been hammered home to me from this. As a side effect of the 5 buy-in rule, I'm taking better notes & I think playing much better that I usually do with SNGs becuase I'm playing only 1 or 2 instead of 3 or 4.

I played quite a bit on Pacific ($5.50 SnGs and the occasional .05/.10 ring game) and yes, the players are pretty nuts. I think I only had one connection issue while playing there for a few months but I guess I'm in the minority.

If you can't afford to buy-in over at PartyPoker, I'd definitely recommend Pacific as a starting point. They only require a minimum deposit of $20 and you can withdraw as little as $5 at a time (though cashouts take anywhere from 3-6 days on average). I built up my $20 on Pacific to $160 playing the 10 player SnGs (the payout structure is the same as PP) and then moved over to PP. Just thought I'd throw that out there, since I see a good amount of hate around for Pacific.

So I'm a bit stuck at the $50 rung, but still getting short-term results above my head and hanging in nicely.

I reviewed HHs for my Out-of-The-Moneys in the $50s and at least 3 of them were overly LAGgy play on my part.

Obviously too early to tell, but my best guess is that in the $50s I'm not adjusting to the extra chips and more patient pool of SNG players. My normal aggression at the $50-$100 blind levels is more suited to the lower buy-in SNGs due to the reduced T800 start and the fact that by level 4 there seem to be fewer bust-outs.

I've read lots of anecdotal "lots of crazy LAGs bust out in the $5s and $10s". Has anyone collected any data on how many players are typically left at the start of each level for different DNG buy-ins?
