Default Small Starting Chip Stack in MTT

Hello all.

My first post, so be gentle please . I've searched and haven't found much on the topic.

I've just started into some tournament play, in in each case I've had starting chip stacks of 13-20 BB. Is this typical or ridiculous??

I play a tight game for the most part, but with a stack this size to start, it seems like you have to pick the least marginal hand and go for it. A 'continuation' bet when you miss the flop is worth a good-sized portion of your stack!

Is there a way I should be playing the early rounds? Or should I not be in these tourneys to begin with??

I should mention, these were not casino-run, and were on a tight schedule. So in addition to short starting stacks, the blinds rose at a maniac pace.

Any advice greatly appreciated. Thanks.

One was for charity. The other is a weekly tourney, running 24 weeks, with a grand prize seat to the WSOP. 2 x 100 player tournaments each Sunday.

What SHOULD the starting stack size be? I was thinking around 70 x BB ???
