Worst online misread board mistake (low content)
I just called a $450 all in bet because I misread the board and thought I had the nuts.
Surprisingly enough, it was my opponent that did. Anyone else ever done this? |

Re: Worst online misread board mistake (low content)
never 450, but similar mistakes
(such as just calling the river because i misread the board and thought i *didn't* have the nuts) |

Re: Worst online misread board mistake (low content)
It wasn't for 450, but I even posted a hand on here where, several hours later, I STILL thought that an 8 on the river improved my hand when I was holding A8 on an A444 board. So of course I pushed all in when I 'hit my kicker' and lost to quad 4s.

Edit: Third-nuts. Heh. My point still stands though. |

Re: Worst online misread board mistake (low content)
Ok maybe it was a bad example, but I misread the board (thought it was AA44) and thought I had the nuts (or second nuts) and instead he had the nuts. So it is similar in those regards. Can't believe you are picking nits when I'm just trying to sympathise with the guy!

Re: Worst online misread board mistake (low content)
I have overlooked players in a live game more than a few times. I go to steal the blinds and, hey, there's a limper that I didn't notice. Oh well. This has happened to me online too, but at least I can blame that on multitabling.

did your Q high hold up? [/ QUOTE ] wait, i must have gotten that wrong JT flopped the straight, so the board had to have been...9KQ. maybe i had J8? T8? whatever..it was supremely dumb. |

I have overlooked players in a live game more than a few times [/ QUOTE ] Man, this brings an even stupider mistake to mind. It's in the World Series "second chance" tournament that they run every night till the main event. $225 buyin NL. First place ~$10k. I am in about 3rd in chips in the latter stages with T7000 to me and in the 7 seat. Suddenly, the room erupts in cheering and explanations. I look over to the main table (where they are finishing that days event) and see Scott Fischman doing his famous table flop. I had just met him a day earlier and am very excited for him. Back to my table action, folded to me in the CO 6 seat with QTo, and I say 'Two thousand.' In the excitement, I had not noticed a player push all in for T4XXX. We got a ruling, and I had to call his bet. He had QQ which lost me nearly half my stack, and I barely recovered to money. In my mind tho, that move cost me 10k.... Those tourneys were SOFT. With my bonehead moves sometimes, I wonder how I ever win at this game. |
