Default What\'s the difference between....

... mousse, gel, pomade, and hair spray? They all are products to hold hair in place right, so what would cause you to use one over another?

mousse dries hard and has a matte finish.

gel dries hard and has a shiney finish.

pomade dries pliable and has a shiney finish.

hairspray is used to give the hair body. like a fro. i don't believe it dries with a shine, but i could be wrong.

i used to do work for a professional men's grooming product company

oh yah, there's also hair creams, that dry plaible with a matte finish.

then there are waxes, that also dry pliable with shiney finishes

and then there are water-based pomades and oil-based pomades.

and a host of other crap that most people will or should never use.

i know more about this crap then any straight male should ever know.

pomade is really good stuff for gel type effects. You can change it around after you put it in as well.
