If he raises all in you're probably in pretty bad shape here (if he's TAG). I don't see him 3 betting OOP with just a flush draw.

I think you've got a few too many players for a 6 max table.

I make it 30 straight and fold to a 3 bet. If he calls, proceed with caution on the turn.

Raise more pre-flop.

Raise the flop to $30, and fold to a push.

If he calls, I check behind the turn.

If he checks the river, I bet 1/2 pot and expect to get called by a worse hand.

If he bets the river after the turn gets checked through, I call.

okay, as a lot of you figured out, this was zaphod's hand from a different perspective. i'm suprised at the number of people here folding to a 3-bet push.

this just goes to illustrate how you can put someone in a bad spot by fast playing big draws. with aces here, i would normally like a call, but it's hard to flat call with SB still to act. it's also hard to call a 3-bet push, but i think that i would.

This is a major EV mistake IMO.

My standard line here is raise the flop to $25, fold to a push by a TAG player.

xorbie, can you explain your reasoning on the smooth call line and why the flop re raise/fold to push line that I and a few others take is -EV? Thanks.

I didn't realize at first that this was zaphod's hand. It is interesting to compare them. However, I would argue that very few players at 100NL are capable of pushing with 87s there. Most will just call and define their hand for you. This is why a fold to a push is preferable at 100NL IMO.
