Default Party Spam -EV?

WHy does party spam its tournaments at the cash games? Tournaments generate much less rake/time playing than ring games. It seems they are trying to draw ppl off the cash game and into a tourney where they will rake less.

I don't know, but I guess a lot of the tournament money gets recycled into the cash games anyhow, so it's not like everyones buy-in is "leaving the system".

Money added tournaments are there as a promotion therefore advertised where players may not be aware of them, in the cash games.

A couple of things to consider,

1) People might not leave their ring game table to join a tournament if they are not already playing their personal max number of tables.

2) If someone is already playing the most tables they are comfortable with, they might just replace one table with that tournament and continue playing the others. If they survive late into the tournament, it might keep them online playing at the other tables longer than they would have otherwise.

Also, keep in mind that the more players they can recruit for a guaranteed-money tourney, the less overlay Party has to provide. (Guaranteed is different from money-added.)

Thus, they have good financial reason for drumming up more entries for those tourneys.

This is wrong. That tournament would lose less money, however party would make less as a whole, as the ring game player will pay way more than 2-10 dolars of tournament fees if he just sits at the game.

The entry for the million dollar guaranteed is $600+$40. Assuming that there's an overlay, every additional player is effectively making $640 for Party (the $40 rake and $600 they don't have to put in the prize pool) Quite a bit more than 2-10 dollars...

In addition to what has been said, Party also must figure that if someone does get up to play a tournament, instead of doing both, their seat will quickly be taken by people on the usually large waiting lists.
