Default Explanation please

Something I have noticed lately, probably due to a 200 BB downswing (1.5 month).

Why does it seem like I lose money so much faster than making it?

I can dump 1k in a long session but it seems to take much longer to make that 1k back. Seems like it should be about the same but maybe I'm missing something.

Reasons:
1. You may be on tilt.
2. You may be a losing player.
2. You may be counting "pots" as "dollars". You will win far fewer pots than you will lose, but those pots will be large and make up for the bets you put into losing pots.

I'm not sure how many BB 1k is to you, but it's possible that you are playing too long when you are losing.

Without more information, it's hard to say.

the world works in weird ways when you're running bad. your winning days should be bigger than your losing days unless you tend to drag on your losing days and quit when you're ahead

it actually makes perfect sense when your won $ @ showdown is low...

say you enter 5 pots and put 2BB in each and lose all of them = -10BB

enter 5 pots still putting 2BB in each, but this time you win a 8BB pot = 0

winning one pot has taken you from being -10BB to being even...but as a tight player you don't win many pots, but you still enter some and you lose more pots than you win, but on a losing streak we aren't winning that pot often so the gap grows...

good luck with the downswing...

Thanx for the info everyone. I know stats posts are hard to deal with but I thought based on the answers to my question my stats for Aug-Sep may be helpful to identify leaks. SO here goes.

27500 hand mainly 2/4 (1/2) 3/6 (1/4) 5/10 (1/4)

VPIP - 19.36
VPIP SB - 31.93
Fold SB to Steal - 71.82
Fold BB to steal - 64.84
Fold BB to steal HU - 59.44
Att to Steal Blinds 24.79
Won $ when saw flop - 41.43
Amount won (938)
BB/100 hands - (.29)
Went to SD - 33
Won $ at SD - 52.72
PFR - 9.9
AF Flop - 2.92
AF Turn - 2.62
AF River 2.24
AF total (Including PF) - 1.63
Fold to River - 47.16
CR % of total actions - 1.66

Those are the stats. Does this fit in with ThirdDan's explanation? Note I did have a +300 day yesterday so I was down (1200)

You need to give me some lessons because I don't know how you can get to showdown 33% of the time.

Perhaps this is the reason for the downswing?

No, mine should be higher. I thought 30-33% was within 'normal' range.
