Default MLB Daily Line Question

I'll apologize now--I'm sure this question comes up all the time but I can't find my answer in a search of the Sports Betting forum.

The Seattle Times sports section has Milwaukee (at -135) over St. Louis (at +125), so if I pick the Brewers I'm betting $135 to win $100, correct? If I pick St. Louis, I'm betting $100 to win $125, yes? (seems like a slam dunk)

A few days ago the line for NYY vs. Tampa Bay was something along the lines of NYY -250 and TB +220. Does this mean that I'm betting $250 to win $100 on NYY and $100 to win $220 on TB? So if I bet $100 and take NYY, I win $40 when the Yankees win?

Thanks in advance for your responses.

Yes, you are correct, except that STL is no slam dunk on the road against Sheets.

Then it was even more of a slam dunk if you got it at +146 at Pinnacle just before it closed.

Thanks for responding. St. Louis and Atlanta are the two teams in the NL that I will take as underdogs every time against all opponnents. I've been picking all games and wagering an imaginary C-note on each for the past 3 days just to amuse myself. I've got ~$1600 imaginary dollars burning a hole in my pocket right now!
