Default Should I have pushed preflop?

To better my chances of stealing the blinds??

If you have less than 10x the BB you need to either push or fold preflop.

You were a 2:1 favorite before the flop and a 2:1 favorite after the flop. In that sesne, it doesn't really matter when your money goes in. Do you want people to fold when you are short-stacked and a 2:1 favorite? I want to double up.

With aces or kings, raising 400 to entice a call from a bad opponent who doesn't realize you're pot committed might've been slightly better, but this is a push no matter what. Since you have to call on a flop of 762, you should be pushing to maximize the amount of times he folds.

If they're folding you need to be raising more often.

why would you want to steal the blinds? i am happy to do so of course, but i also am not upset if i get called since i am short stacked and have to double up anyway. i go all in here everytime and if i am called i am not that upset. you will be surprised (if you play below the $30 level)how often you will be called by hands like your opponent had here.

Well, I guess I would have been satisfied just stealing the blinds. I know I was a 2:1 favorite, but even favorites loose, as in this case.

My thought process was something like: "Can I get the blinds for free, great. Can I double if I go to showdown, thats OK to."

You should always be happy winning a pot. If you can stay alive by stealing blinds then several things happen:

1) You are more likely to be called when you push while way ahead and likely double up
2) When you don't get called you get more chips, making you less desirable to call on future hands (since when they lose you can take more chips from them)
3) You last longer giving another shortstack who isn't stealing a better chance to bust before you
4) When your opponent folds you have 0% chance of busting on that hand. AK vs. J8 allin preflop you have a 30% chance of busting on that hand. Which do you prefer?

By letting someone see a cheap flop you give them a chance to see if they have a good chance to suck out on you.
