Default How did Rice say this with a straight face.

In today's Chicago Tribune, from a Washington post Wire;

"Good neighbors don't close their borders to their neighbors"
-Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice, on Syria's choking of the Lebanon border.

"It is a very serious situation on the Lebanon border where Lebanese trade is being strangled"

Obviously, the USA is not a "good neighbor" under Rice's tenets.

Does NAFTA mean anything to you?
Nothing wrong with allowing LEGAL immigration and preventing ILLEGAL immigration.

How did you write this post with a straight face?

I have to agree with Daliman here. There is no difference between your neighbor coming over as an invited dinner guest, and his sneaking over at all hours of the night to raid your refrigerator. If you complain about his uninvited visits you are clearly an unfeeling bigot and should be thrown in jail.

Please explain who are the invited dinner guests, and who is raiding the refrigerator.

because they have said far more outrageous things with hardly a peep from any one, so why should they worry about small things like this? Like a small child, they will continue to say and act without regard to anything, until they get their hand slapped.

the situation on the lebanon syria border is totally different situation then U.S. Mexico border. The primary issue on the U.S. border is the flow of illegal immigrants. This is not the case on the syria lebanon border. In the syria border case: one of lebanons major exports is parishable goods (fruits vegetables etc) to some points in syria, but mainly to iraq. The syrian government (which was recently forced to pull its troops from lebanon, and is rapidly losing political sway) is blocking parishable carrying trucks at the border as a matter of spite, and costing the fragile lebanese economy lots of money. There are hundreds of trucks at sitting at the border with fruit rotting inside.
