[ QUOTE ]
Guys, I'm 21 with zero expenses. I've been playing a year online, and I am a consistent winner. The past few months I have been making around $15-20/hr, and that figure has been increasing steadily. I have friends who live on their own who go out frequently, spend all their spare $$ on booze, etc, and they live off minimum wage ($7.45CDN)!!

Am I stupid to think I can move out and live off online poker? I play 3/6. My rent + food + expenses should only come out to 700-900 / month, if I live cheap. I plan on moving out in February with about 6-7K for startup (bankroll, rent, food, new computer). All comments appreciated

You will have a hard time growing your bankroll if you move out now I think because most of your profit will go for your expense and it will be difficult to save. It dont mean you will not suceed, but it will be harder. I have some friends who did it in a situation like you, one of them did fine, the other one almost got broke two times and had a hard time. Now he is doing fine, but it took more than a year before he could really grow a solid bankroll and dont have to be always worried about money.

"I am about 13 years away from retirement(at age 45, present age 32)"

I'm the same age and make the same money from my job. The only difference is there is no way I can retire in 13 years. Do you have a government job? If not how did you come up with 13 years?

If someone guaranteed me I would have medical insurance for life I would quit my job on the spot right now.

I like this site, and I like this specific topic. I'm a 19 Uk lad, and mostly been brought up on Poker (my Dad has played all his life, and played pro well before the boom) I think havin' someone with experiance in teh field is always helpful. I think the most standard I'd go for it $150-$200 which is roughly about £90-£150 a day, which is damn good livin for the area I live in (And the free Health service... tax free).

I wonder if anyone has really thought more about live games, casinos and home games. Usually when I go to a home game it's with one close frind present, the rest are strangers or mearly aquantices. I can usually clean up, since most of teh people are out for a good time and don't really care much about the game. Home Tournments are good also, where I've averaged at the top 1% of 20-30 people making the money.

I'm not a pro, but I have just left collage and worked for a while, having to leave simply because I got depressed with the job itself. Apparently my personality conflicts majorly with authority... so they say. I am thinking of starting early, looking for card rooms and online play. I do know that in the New Year, I'm planning on keeping a more organized and strict records or £/hr x hours of play. If this can equal or exceed my brothers job (Of which I've lived of for a year) then I'm game for it.
