Default I flopped the nut high, but all I want to do is check/fold

I'm VERY new to PLO/8, and I'd like some advice about the following hand that I recently ran into in a tournament.

Stars 20+2 PLO/8 tournament. Blinds are t50/t100.

Preflop: I'm on the BB holding 2[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. I have t2000 after posting the blind. Five limpers to me, about half cover me, the other two have about t1000. I check.

Flop(t600): 4[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 6[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. SB checks, Hero ... ?

I'd like a plan for the rest of this hand. My concern is that anbody with a reasonable low hand is free-rolling, whereas I have almost no shot of winning the lo, and there are a lot of cards that can kill my straight.

Thanks.

What you should fear is a Axxx (s) with a better low draw. You may call a small bet, but I'd say save your chips for a better hand. If you're a bold man you cold try to reraise a late bettor if he might be on a steal attempt. He really needs a strong hand to beat you both ways. And from my experience people play weaker hands in tournaments. But against two opponents you should not play it.

Even in a limit game this is not a very good hand. You have a one way hand that is vulnerable. If someone makes a flop size bet and it became heads up, you will be playing to get back your money plus t300, if you are lucky and your hand holds up. If you are unlucky you will go broke. Check and fold.

Just curious - does anyone think those 2's change things at all? Is trying to snow with the current nut high an absolutely horrible play here?

You're analysis is correct. Unfortunately we have to muck winners sometimes to avoid losing big in a hand. You are a dog to end up with the best hand in this large of a field. Making a big move here like potting it is only good in the back, not up front. There are far too many hand possibilities to risk it. Check and hope it checks around or you only get a bet from the button trying to steal or betting a naked A/2 or A/3. Then make your decision on the turn depending what hits. But the check/muck is the best play.
