Even if they didn't, it's clear, at the very least, that they were against outright government *support* for any one religion. Given that the issue is such a big controversy these days and given what we do know of their view, it's easy to argue that they'd support total government neutrality towards religion. It's hard to argue at all reasonably *against* government neutrality.
