Re: How do gangs work?
[ QUOTE ]
I've always wondered about famous gangs like bloods, crips, etc. What is the "infrastructure" of a gang that is spread across the country? How is the leadership set up? What exactly is it that links sub-groups around the country together? Anyone have any info? I read some about these gangs but I don't really get how they are organized on a national level, if at all. [/ QUOTE ] prison is the biggest recruiting grounds for gangs. |

[ QUOTE ]
The problem is that the average gang member isn't near as loyal to his gang as the average mafia member was back in the day. [/ QUOTE ] Sounds like you know what you are talking about. |

Re: How do gangs work?
I have a lot of family and friends that are in gangs as well. I am in L.A. People still do get "jumped in" out here. Not sure where you're from. It may be different there.
There is a heirarchy, although I wouldn't call it intricate. There doesn't seem to be as much loyalty and strict following of orders, etc. The Mafia had real organization to it. They just didn't go around beating people up on a whim like they do out here. Gangs have really become sort of lame out here too. All they ever do anymore is break up parties, etc. Some are broke and sell drugs for pennies. There aren't very many Harry O's out there anymore. |
