Default Who hates my river action?

Party 15/30 good loose game. I raise 3 limpers and the SB in the BB with AKs and everyone calls. Flop 3 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] T [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] K [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] I have no clubs. I bet out and all three call. The SB, who is pretty loose aggressive, then raises. I 3-bet. One of the limpers and the SB calls.

Turn is a 3. I bet and they both call.

River is another 3, SB bets and I just call.

You're likely chopping the pot with the sb so you may as well try and get some dead money in the pot. He could have KT anyhow (not likely...) but there really isn't much value in raising I don't think. You really want to get an overcall from the limper.

Nate is still chopping even if SB has KT. But yeah, I agree with the rest of your comment. Going for the overcall is good because you are almost certainly chopping and you'd like the limper to call with his T or small pocket pair.

You want the limper w/the Ten to call, Nate. So calling is correct and they often will overcall too.

Peace,

Good spot for an overcall mainly for the reasons that the others mentioned.

Also worth considering is that while the SB likely has a king, he also might be making some desperate stab with a missed draw, which he will fold if you raise.

And there's some chance that the limper will call one bet with an ace-high missed draw as well.

Nate,

Only a FOOL will over-call you with less than a K! but most of them are fools ... so good call.

I was thinking about this too. The pot is so big that you're not really gonna be able to knock out any gutshots on the flop (unless they fold incorrectly), but you could knock out some backdoor draws. So I guess the question is how much equity are you giving up by not raising the flop (and what will the equity difference be on a safe turn) and whether it is worth giving up some equity to protect your hand on the turn ( I think it would be in this big pot). What does everyone else think?
