Default KQo 1/2 6-Max (miles this means you)

Villain is 38/6/1 - I don't have a note on him so he's been straightforward, probably rockish (as I keep pretty good notes)

Dealt to I_WANNA_BE_M [Qh Kd]
I_WANNA_BE_M - Raises $2 to $2
RACKSFULL - Folds
KBNEIL31 - Raises $3 to $3
DUNNER0911 - Folds
NERFGUN - Folds
FUN_AT_HOME - Folds
I_WANNA_BE_M - Calls $1

standard preflop

*** FLOP *** [Jc 8c 10s]
I_WANNA_BE_M - Checks
KBNEIL31 - Bets $1
I_WANNA_BE_M - Raises $2 to $2

check-raising here is standard, right?

KBNEIL31 - Raises $2 to $3
I_WANNA_BE_M - Calls $1

ok I'll call the turn and fold river ui

*** TURN *** [Jc 8c 10s] [5c]
I_WANNA_BE_M - Checks
KBNEIL31 - Checks

wtf?!? he checks? this has to mean AK/AQ right? or an induced river bluff....(he's not that smart is he?)

*** RIVER *** [Jc 8c 10s 5c] [10h]
I_WANNA_BE_M - Bets $2

you like?

i don't think the flop is standard. you said he hasn't gotten out of line - well he just 3-bet your utg preflop raise. none of his 3-betting range is folding to the flop check raise. AA/KK/QQ/JJ/TT/99/88/AK/AQ.. the overcards have made gutshots and the pot is large enough for him to not fold them. you're basically forcing him to either punish you with good overpairs/sets or call correctly with the best high card hand.

but you did c/r the flop - so now what?

his turn check means he has 99 or AK/AQ (or he is scared of the flush and has decided to let you bluff at the end). i think you have to bet this river to get him to fold.

stupid miles and his logical thinking....

you're right, the flop check-raise isn't that great in hindsight - i'm just used to "check-raising any flop to a pf raiser with a hand"

this is why I asked for help - cause it felt standard, but I didn't think it was great poker

is betting out this flop better? or just check/call until I hit something?

Check-call. I'd say why but I'd just be quoting Miles. I used to check-raise these spots until I realized it's pretty pointless.

As for betting the river, I really don't like it. Most of the loose villains are going to call down with their AQ/AK especially after checking through on the turn. They will also be calling pretty much any pair here.
