Default 10/20 facing all-in with set of 9\'s

10/20 NLHE online

Villain is tight-passive and I've seen no tricky play from his side, but I only have about 60 hands with him.

UTG limps, UTG+1 limps, I limp with 99, 1 more limps and BB checks.

Flop comes AQ9 - 2 clubs - pot 110

Checked to me and I bet 80, folded to UTG who calls, UTG+1 raise to 250, I reraise to 750, UTG folds, UTG+1 push for my last 1400.

Pot is now 3090 - what should I do?

Call you can't fold now. Besides what are you worried about? You think he overlimped with AA or QQ ??

If this is a tuff spot for you, you should think really hard about stepping a few limits down. Since you posted it here you obviously either got outdrawed or were beated by a very stupid play for aces or queens, but still - this hand isnt worth posting in any forum.

Once UTG+1 check-raises one option is to just call and wait for safe turn (no club, no ace, no queen) before getting the money in.

If he's tight passive with no tricky play his hand range is like 50% AQ, 20% AA, 20% QQ, 10% AK. Those guys don't reraise with draws, no matter how good.

Default RESULT

I insta called and lost to a flopped set of A's.

The reason I ask about this hand, is that I in the hurry at the table forgot villain was tight-passive. And passive was REALLY passive. I think his AF after the flop was around 0!

Therefore I am curious if anybody would have folded with an opponent like that. Normally this is an obvious call, but in this case, I can be in doubt if a fold could be justified and I got a bit irritated on myself for forgetting to focus on my opponent and only taking the cards into account.

This was not a tough spot for me, but I think it should have been because of the opponent!

I am worried about a TP limping, then check-raising and, then reraising all-in after a serious reraise from me.

It can't be a draw and I'm in doubt if AQ is realistic from a TP with an AF around 0.

And yes overlimping with AA or QQ is pretty realistic from this kind of player.

Of course your point is very important that you must focus on your opponents. But I think this is a hand you just lose. To lay down a set on a board like that with appr. 100bb stacks in an unraised pot you must have a much much stronger read and lots more hands on villian. Im not even sure if you can lay it down anyway because even the rock of gibraltar occassionaly makes a move with less than the nuts or a draw.
