Semi-bluff raise with KQ

Party Poker 1/2 Hold'em (6 max, 5 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is Button with Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img].
1 fold, MP raises, Hero 3-bets, 2 folds, MP calls.

Flop: (7.50 SB) 2[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 2[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players)
MP bets, Hero calls.

Turn: (4.75 BB) J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players)
MP bets, Hero raises, MP calls.

River: (8.75 BB) 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players)
MP checks, Hero bets, MP calls.

Final Pot: 10.75 BB

I never do this, so I decided to try it. I would not of done this if I didn't get my straight draw. What am I supposed to do on the river? Just check fold since I obviously failed?

What type of player would you need before you attempted this? If you did raise the turn and got called, would you bet the river? Would it require an even more specific type of opponent?

I much prefer it against a TAG who can fold. The average unknown at 1/2 sucks so bad he'll call down with any piece. River I'd like a guy with a W$SD of 50 or greater, and the higher the better.

I generally like raising the flop here so you can take a free card if you want. If he was a tag when the jack comes id consider betting. If he is unknown at 1-2 I probably just check behind and raise his river bet if I hit.

The river bet is really bad at 1/2. You will very likely be called by a wide range of hands, all of which beat yours.

Betting the river is a ~1BB mistake at all limits I am familiar with.

This is too harsh. AK and AQ both call the turn raise and will sometimes fold the river as will something like A9 spades.

The river bet is not as bad as most of the comments in this thread imply.
