Default Hand review

Situation: $25 buy in MTT, 200 of 350 left, top 36 pay.
Blinds are 30/60, my stack is 1200.
I've been at the table for 1 orbit, play seems very tight.

Folded to me, I get 9cTc in MP and make it 180 to go.
LP with 480 pushes all in and it folds back to me. I'm facing a 300 call for a 705 pot (1:2.35 pot odds).

Should I call?

I call.

When you open raise with T9s (or such) and get raised you will usually be ~2:1 in the pot and 1:2 in the hand, making it about even.

I think the factors that affect your decision are situational: position, stack size, image, etc.

In this case villain has 8XBB and is most likely willing to push a wide range of hands. (favorable)
You will not have to play the hand OOP ATF (favorable)
Blinds are going up to 50/100 leaving you with 10XBB if you fold, and 7XBB if you call and lose, 18XBB if you win. (call if you are an accumulator, fold if you are a survivor)
Villain can't cripple you (favorable)

I make the call quickly, if it was about 650+ I fold.

1. Be ready for SS push preflop.

2. If you fold your future table image, will not be good.

it's worth noting that if you call your table image is damaged as well (you open raise with T9s). but i still call.

Making them know that you won't fold it really helps your image.

I don't think it hurts your image at all. It simply looks like good poker; attempted blind steal with the odds to call the all-in.

Yeah if you fold here, be ready to get RR often by a good player.

If You call here they really won't want to screw with you to much.

First, thanks for the feedback!

I did, in fact, make the call - I figured my odds were pretty close to the pot odds (being coinflip vs low pair, 2:1 vs overcards and 4:1 vs overpair).

Reality was he held the middle option - AcJc.

I didn't improve and lost the hand, but I *thought* I made the right choice.

I wasn't really concerned about table image taking a hit from showing a raise with 9cTc. I figured if it went to showdown that I'd simply tighten up for a while (which I did) and not try to steal again for at least 1 orbit. Also, with the table acting tight, I figured this might improve my chances of getting action with a premium hand if one should come down the pike.

Sadly, no good hands came for a long time and I busted out about 20 minutes later when I pushed my last 450 in from the SB (blinds at 50/100) with KJ and ran into AA.
