Default Feedback on these chips

These chips claim to be 100% clay, 9gram chips, with no insert....Not sure I believe them with what they are charging. If what they are saying is true, these appear to be a pretty good bargin... anyone have any thoughts.....

"9gram pure clay Poker Chips" ... I'm honestly not sure I trust that really are "pure clay."

Looks like similar ones here:

A nice site to compare what's out there.

That's what I'm thinking as well so I ordered some samples. I plan to cut one to check for an insert. If there isn't an insert, is there a way to tell if they are clay? Will it be obvous once the chip is cut?

Given the option, would you go with 1200 of the Vegas chips (assuming they are really clay) or would you spend that money on 350 of the suits chips?

Default I have these chips

They are mass-ordered RT Plastics chips. They make the chips ESPN used on the tables for the WSOP interviews (this year at least), as well as chips for a couple of casinos (Bay 101 is RT Plastics iirc).

You either love them or you hate them. A few of my buddies prefer that goddamn nickel+dime sound of the 11.5 grammers to the lighter "thud" of these chips. I'd recommend them over the 11.5 grammers any day.

They are a clay-composite. Closer to plastic. Not bad chips, though. You could do much worse.

On your review, you said they weighed closer to 7.7 - 8 grams. Is this indeed the case?

Here's a comparison between the 9g Vegas chips and the typical 11.5g composites I got from a PokerSourceOnline member:

A stack of 12 each - just to see how they handle- and feel..
#1 Weight--- The weight of the 11.5g makes the chip a little bulkier to handle.., That is they feel more clumsy and loose in your hands when you are grabbing them from the stack.. Because of the weight- possibly the metal inserted in them- They feel a little off center- And when you try to do chip tricks w/ them- they are very hard to handle.. When you hold them in the stack and let a few drop down onto the stack the metal clink is heard very well... All of this probably has to do with the additional weight - because of the metal insert- I bet if the metal wasn't in them they would feel much closer to the 9g....
OK_ the 9g the weight is more managable in my hands- My hands are average size and are not fat. I would think people w/ larger of fatter hands may prefer the heavier chips.. As far as size goes- They are exactly the same diameter around... And as far as width- they are the same. Yet because of the center-decal- "which looks to me like a plastic insert" the chip appears to be smaller- But I assure you they are the same in every way-
Now- as far as the feel- Yes the clay/composite/metal- is very heavy and slick to the feel- as you hold them in your hands- You notice that they are still loose in the feel, and easily slip out of control if you are holding them...
On the other hand the 9g (all)clay chip- gets warm as you hold it- As they warm up in your hands they are easier to manage- The clay seems to get a more thick feel to them??? They feel easier to manage and stay firmly in your grasp...and as you were looking for- "something a little tackier/more rubbery" - I would say they would probably fit that description...
One thing though that might cause concern for you w/the 9g is the plastic inserted money decal- It looks awesome- But when you hold the chips- You can tell the feel is much different on that part of the chip as compared to the side or edges... and I believe if they were blanks - They would feel much more tackier and rubbery... "But I think they are the closest PSO offer's so far"
AS far as the stack test goes... It is much easier to uniformly stack the 9g chips than the 11.5... - I hope these points answer most of your questions...

All-clay chips with no insert. The gang loves 'em. They will even send five samples.

These chips feel like straight up plastic. There may have been some clay in the room where they were made. I really don't like them. Honestly though, I love the Allin Chips. But I'm holding out for a clay group buy.
