Right, but she'd still get a very good feel for what hands to play and what flops to bet and why. Also, by betting reasonably in relation to the pot, she'll offer them incorrect odds that I'm sure they'll take. Mathematically, this will be a good thing. But there's a lot of good info in HOH besides "bet half the pot".

Here's the update....

I made two appointments to have her come over and let her learn at the feet of the master (me). Both times though, something came up and she had to cancel. I gave her the Howard Lederer "Secrets" DVD just to give her *something* to go on, but she didn't get around to watching it. So she went into the tournament with no actual knowledge of how to play.

20 entrants, starting chips were 1000 and the tourney lasted 4.5 hours or so. She got short-chipped partway through it, down to 135. She then went on a rush and....well, in her words

[23:46] Jen: there were a few times where I had like a 2 of Clubs and a 7 of diamonds and thought where was this thing going

[23:46] Jen: esp when the pot got big
[23:47] Jen: that would eliminate a lot of players while I watched
[23:47] Jen: but I didn't fold too much before the first flop

[23:50] ddt: now you can watch the DVD and see all the things that you did wrong that helped you win

Anyway, she had fun and that's all that matters. Glad she won. Of course, I've spent 100s of hours playing and 100s of dollars on books and I can't win bullcacky. :-P
