not all the stores are open yet, some of the retailers will be moving in during the next few months. I have a friend who is consulting on one of the restauraunts, they open in late December.

Its not a poker room expansion... but it will help us all anyway. More rooms, better parking (about time!), and a tourist trip to bring in the little fishies!

I find them both equally likeable but for different reasons.

The Borg stole the Trop's staff so I am told. The dealers at the trop were ok, but the floor wasn't as good as the floor at the Borg. Trop is much more intimate and quieter, but both rooms seems to have the same percentage of local players. The Trop brings in a lot of action for the tournaments, I think they are bigger than the Borgs.

Just go to the Trop and play the pink chip game.... you'll be happy.

last time i was at the taj the dealer was leaving to go work strictly tourneys at the borgata. . .

also, there was in article in the star ledger (nj's finest) within the past couple weeks about the big expansion y'all are talking about - i tried to find it but the online archives only go back about 2 weeks and its not in there. basically the article talked about the borgata bringing in a younger crowd and AC generally trying to be more of an eastern vegas and draw more than a day tripping gamblers.

it should be clarified to all reading this thread that neither the expansions at Tropicana or Caesars were designed to add gaming space. It is merely shopping, restaurants, bars, clubs and (in the quarter's case) more hotel rooms.

the only current announced gaming expansion is at borgata, 600 slot machines and 92 more table games (incl. poker) to be added by 2Q 2006. that construction will run simultaneously with a new 500+ hotel room tower scheduled 2Q 2007.

If they're serious, they'll let more casinos open up. It was only the threat of the Borgata's image and amenities that sparked the others into offering more than just pure product.
