Default PP $200 - TT as overpair

Villain is pretty maniacal. 50/19/1. Probably the only reason his post-flop agg is so low is because he's in every other pot.

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (9 handed) converter

Hero ($523.05)
MP1 ($237.08)
MP2 ($90.20)
MP3 ($48)
CO ($139.84)
Button ($199.60)
SB ($198)
BB ($387.10)
UTG ($198)

Preflop: Hero is UTG+1 with T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. SB posts a blind of $1.
1 fold, Hero raises to $8, MP1 calls $8, 6 folds.

Flop: ($19) 3[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero bets $15, MP1 raises to $30, Hero calls $15.

Turn: ($79) J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero checks, MP1 bets $35, Hero calls $35.

River: ($149) 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero bets $100

How's my line and blocking bet? Or should I have checked and seen if he underbet again.

I called the flop and turn because I think I'm ahead here a lot.

EDIT: Oops, I had the preflop agg checkbox checked. His post-flop agg is actually 2.5.

blocking bet? Are u planning on folding for 65 dollars more? It looks more like a value bet, but i would check call against an overaggro villain. he would have to make a pretty big call to pay u off with anything u beat. i think he calls river with a narrow range, many of which u lose to; and he bets broader range that u have an edge against.

I hate the river. Check/call or check/fold. I might 3bet the flop or CR allin a safe turn, that turn sucks so I'd probably call down or maybe fold.

No one wants to fire that turn? Seemed like the best spot to make one last bet and get the hell out if raised. Might as well pretend you have the flush. Or maybe even a CR/AI. Give up on the river if he calls a lead out on the turn unless you have seen him fold rivers frequently. That was a pretty safe river anyway so even if he called, you can fire one last barrel.

I like betting this turn. Easy fold if raised, but why give him a free chance to outdraw you with a naked diamond or an overcard?

yeah, a $50 turn bet would have been better and shut down at that point.

villain just called on the river and showed 99 for a set. i still think his hand range is really wide here and includes a lot of hands that i'm beating.

3 bet flop vs guys with similar stats

i usually just check-fold

river looks pretty bad as you have a hand with showdown value but the bet will seldom get called by a worse hand..

I hate the river for a few reasons. Most importantly, you're up against a maniac.. why use a blocker? What's the purpose, he is a maniac.

If I am not mistaken, a blocker is good for 2 main reasons. 1) It'll shut down a betting hand into a call, which will most likely be significantly larger than your blocker. It also can make them fold the best hand, but that's usually just an added bonus, I think. 2) It allows you to get away from a hand easier. If you block for a decent amount and get raised, you can safely fold your hand and assume you were beat. Agree?

A maniac can push with more hands than just ones that beat you. It'd suck if you got bluffed out by A9o. Maybe this isn't the best board for this argument, but I think you know what I'm trying to convey.

Also, A9o is about the only thing calling your river bet, isn't it? If you're blocking for that much, and folding to a raise getting those odds, why not just check-call a $100 bet? He's been underbetting the whole way, let him bet half pot and you can call, instead of wasting $100 to fold against his push or fold out better hands.

I also fold turn. A minraise on that flop is either a set or a flush draw maybe 90% of the time in the games I play in. Obviously the range is wider since he's a maniac, but you still only have Tens. The lowest possible overpair on flop which just became an underpair on the [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] turn.

I'm a wuss, though.. I rarely call down in spots like this.
