ATo 6 max hand - comments appreciated
This is not one of mine and I have already offered my comments which I will tell you now.
Hero is UTG (6 handed) with A [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] T [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Hero raises, CO calls, and BB calls (6.75 SB) Flop comes 4 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 3 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 3 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Now I have said I would bet this safe looking flop Hero BB checks, Hero checks, CO checks (6.75 SB) Turn is Q [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Not sure of thhe correct course of action here, but I still lean towards a bet. BB checks, Hero checks, CO checks (3.38 BB) River is A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] BB bets, Hero calls, CO raises, BB calls, Hero calls (final pot 9 BBs after rake) Hero is getting 8-1 on his river call and closing the action, but I am really unsure if it is good often enough, I guess it's not a massive mistake if at all, I would appreciate your comments here, as the whole thing puzzles me for such a routine hand. Thanks and Regards Mack |

Re: ATo 6 max hand - comments appreciated
I'd bet the flop, we have the best hand here a majority of the time.

Re: ATo 6 max hand - comments appreciated
Boy would I feel foolish if CO has 8 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 9 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] and was just itching to fold. Bet the flop. River call (after the raise and overcall) is pretty marginal, if not a little -EV. A ten is not a monster kicker, and the flush is at least somewhat likely, but at least you're closing the action. The final river decision is pretty marginal; it's the flop and turn decisions that cost hero the pot.

Bet/call flop, bet/fold turn, bet/call river.

Re: ATo 6 max hand - comments appreciated
Not betting that flop was a huge mistake. The hand probably ends right there and Hero has 6.75 SB more in his pocket than he had before.
After that he's only letting his opponents catch up, and a lot of 6-max players don't 3-bet AJo or even AQo. By river, CO probably can't fathom that Hero wouldn't have bet an ace on the flop, thus the raise. Call, because although he may have one of the above hands or a spade, it's more likely CO has a weaker ace. |
