Default Final 4 at a $100 SNG...

Everyone has stacks of 2500 +/- 200. Blinds are 200/100

I am dealt AQ off. I put in a bet for 800, and the BB calls.

Flop comes up 4,6,9 rainbow.

BB checks.

I push my stack.

BB flips over 44.

In retrospect, it would have been much better to pick up the blinds. However at the time, picking up 600 more chips sure seemed like a good idea.

Is anything other than a big pair simply a push there?

You shouldn't push preflop. The way you played it is fine. Don't be results oriented.
