Flopped a flush draw, how did i play it?
I thought that i played this hand really well, but then i started to think it might not have been too great a play...

I sensed that everyone in the hand was really weak, so i took control on the flop, and semibluff my flush draw, turn i hit a pair, and it doesnt seem that someone has an Ace, so i bet again, get too many callers, so i am giving up unless i hit a heart, a Q, or a J. River was the heart, and i knew that someone would make a stab at it and it someone did and another raised, i didnt figure anyone for Ah xh because of the weak action before the river, so i push... comments? |

Re: Flopped a flush draw, how did i play it?
why not a bigger raise on the flop. the betting was pitifully weak on everyone's part, leading me to believe noone was too thrilled with their hand. they would have likely folded to a, say T400 raise.
cheers! |

Re: Flopped a flush draw, how did i play it?
Hi,
Perhaps a few answers from you first. What was the point of the check raise on the flop? What were you trying to do? On the turn you bet 1/5 pot. What was the point of a bet of this size? On the river it is bet and raise to you. What is the point of your raise? As far as I am concerned, the PF call is fine. The check raise on the flop is not a BAD idea. The amount is. IF you are looking to build a pot, bet out. If you are looking to take it down with the check raise, then push when it comes back to you. There is T600 in the pot at that point. If an all-in bet can push a better hand out, great. If they call, you have plenty of outs. On the turn, same thing. A bet of 1/5 pot does what? No one is going to fold. You are drawing out of position and basically you are putting a big part of your tourney on the line. You bet 200....would you fold if a later player pushed? On the turn, since you didnt push the flop, push now. Again, a better hand *may* fold. Not as likely as if you ppushed the flop. Again, you still can improve as well. On the river, I think it is close between an overcall and a raise. A raise will most definitely get you the 120 more from the CO. An overcall and you may entice more to stay. I would have probably raised as well. Anyway, I am looking forward to hearing your answers to my questions too Josie Wales PS: I am not much of a tourney player, so take this with a grain of salt. |
