limit and the capped raises
I am new to limit (mostly play ss NL and SnGs) but have studied limit quite a bit. But what is the history or the reason of having capped betting at 3 raises. I think it should be higher or even no cap but maybe that is stupid. Could someone enlighten me?

When there are 3 or more players in the pot at the beginning of the betting round, there is a maximum number of raises. This prevents two cheaters from raising the 3rd person into an oblivion. If a betting round begins heads-up then there is no cap.

One reason is to prevent someone who has the nut flush draw from getting caught between two guys with sets who are bashing eachother for their entire stack. I can see how a capped betting round minimizes collusion but is this really the main reason for the capped rule b/c of cheaters?
