Re: Give Arieh a Break
[ QUOTE ]
Given Arieh's play, would someone PLEASE explain to me why calling with a big pocket pair is such a "bad play" [/ QUOTE ] it really is all about the stack sizes. with 100x the big blind it's a terrible play, because he is either a small favorite to AK or a huge dog to AA-QQ. the shorter the stack, the less bad it is. with the blinds at 100k and he had less than a million left, it didn't strike me as a terrible play in that situation. --turnipmonster |

Re: Give Arieh a Break
God I hate to write this, but Arieh Does have a bracelet from 1999 i believe, and 3rd this year I'm sure qualifies as "world class results"

Please, the call was terrible. He should either move in or muck. Sure maybe he is planning to bet out on any non AK flop but we will never know. [/ QUOTE ] Right, we will never know... except that he CHECKED IN THE DARK. |

Re: Give Arieh a Break
His comments to Demetriou were absurd. I don't know about the rest of the stuff, but there is no way that a proper and polite person would behave the way he did with Demetriou. The rest is just icing on the cake. |

Re: Give Arieh a Break
No doubt about it, Ariah is a prick. I gave him the benefit of the doubt after the first outburst, however, his true character showed as time went on.
I'm not big fan of Norman Chad, but, it comments on Ariah were dead on. The guy definitely needs to mature. |

Re: Give Arieh a Break
Poker, like any other televised competitive events are better for the viewers if there are 'good guys' and 'bad guys'. So that is why when someone says stupid things in one of the shows we sort them into the 'bad guy' category and will hold it against them in the future. ESPN know this and if someone is caught saying something stupid on camera it will for sure make it into the show (which may explain some of Hellmuths antics since he most likely don't realize that he looks more like an idiot than a bad boy of poker these days).
It's all for our viewing pleasure. |

Re: Give Arieh a Break
[ QUOTE ]
The call wasn't horrible. First the call was $375,000 more and getting 2 to 1 on a 50/50 hand if Josh had 2 overcards, which he did. 2nd, he still shouldn't have said what he did. Don't forget, Josh was actually behind before the flop. [/ QUOTE ] yes the call was horrible. david williams is not a very skilled NL player. he earlier, after just doubling up (still small stack though), like 300k-500k or something raised 100k with K7o??? and then called someone's all-in with it??? and sucked out on JJ. ugh. |
