Default Turn Check

I'm BB with QQ

A Lag limps EP, TAG raises LP, sb (semi-loose, semi-aggressive, and I've noticed likes to peel flops with pretty much air) calls, I reraise, all call.

Flop is A55r

I bet, lag folds, LP almost times out and folds, sb calls.

Turn 4o

sb checks, I check

Looks good, if you're ahead he has next to zero outs. Boubtful he calls a turn bet without an ace or a 5 unless he has a pocket pair, so let him see the river. Hopefully he'll catch something besides a king and pay off.

if this means he will make loose flop calls and fold the turn UI then i like it for a couple of reasons. if he will usually call a turn bet with less than top pair then i do not.

so i guess you were trying to lose less to an Ace, stimulate action, or both?

You want to S/D your QQ.

SB will probably not call with anything that you beat other than 66-JJ.

SB could have a 2 or 3 or K, so might have 4 outs.

SB might bet the river with a hand you beat.

I think it all adds up to +EV for the turn check-behind.

Edit to add that you may want to bet to see how this SB will react and gain information for future hands if you think both of you will be at the table for a while. Most likely you will find a better spot to feel him out soon enough.

I can't think of any good reason to bet the turn.

Calling a river bet/betting if checked to? Sure.
