Default display setup...which is best for multi-tabliing???

I made this post earlier today in the Tech. Help forum but received no responses - pretty sure it belongs here in the Zoo:
Like to get some advice here before I go out and spend over $1,000. on a few displays...thanks,

""
Hi all,

I am currently beginnning to multi-table and it's addictive! I started w/ 2, then moved to 3...and 4...Well, I want to go to multi-tabling more than 4 at once...
5 to 7 or 8 tables (with NO OVERLAP!!!), and
I would like to ask anyone for advice as to what monitors I should buy...

1. 2 Dell 2001FP 20 inchers
2. 1 Dell 2405 FPW Wide and 1 Dell 2001FP 20 inch
3. 2 Dell 2405 FPWs, both flipped into "portrait mode" and placed side-by-side.
4. 1 Dell 2405 FPW Wide and 1 Dell 2005FPW Wide 20.1 inch

For the last setup, I was thinking to have the massive 24 incher sitting in the center of my desk,
and tilting the 20.1 inch wide into the "portrait mode" and putting it on the side of the 24 incher...
(this should be good for 3 tables at 1360 x 768 resolution (correct me if I am wrong...) - does this sound like a good idea???
(this would save money, rather than buying 2 2405 FPWs, but, the money that could be made by playing extra tables with no overlap could
easily pay for the monitors over just a few week's time...so cost doesn't really matter...assuming this fact/that I could handle the stress of 7-8 tabling...lol)

Also, general question: are 2 Dell 2001FP's side-by-side better than 1 Dell 2405FPW Wide??
(price is about the same for either...interesting consideration, as you sacrifice height in the Wide Aspect Dell...but with 2 2001FPs you'd get height and 2 side-byside would give you even more width...)

Ps. my graphics card is old, but high-end: 128 MB Ti 4600 NVIDIA...It came w/ somthing called "nVIEW" which I haven't played around with but looks like it will help with setting up a dual-display...anyone use nVIEW???

Thank you in advance for any replies/advice! Look forward to hearing (and maybe seeing some pics of!) any great display setups you all might have/be willing to share!

I have the 2405 with no overlap you only can 4 table, i play 6 with overlap. 2 20" are good for 8 tables but no extraspce for AIM, messengers. here in germany the 24" was cheaper than 2 20".

enjoy the screens they are great

You want 1600x1200 for 4 tables with no overlap. 1600x1200 is the magic number.. other than 1920x1200 there's not really any other resolution worth considering.

For the non-Widescreen monitors I know: 1600 x 1200 is the perfect 4 tabling w/ no
overlap resolution...

But for the Dell Widescreens, it's different - first they can't do EXACTLY 1600 x 1200...it's a little off...

Also, The Dell 2405FPW is so large that I was wondering IF you could 4 table with no overlap
in a lower resolution: 1360 x 768, for example...(so the tables would all be bigger...)

I just read off the Dell website that the max res. is:
1920x1200 (WUXGA)
for the 2405FPW...

This is the res. I assume the guy's 6 table on - anyone know how much overlap there is 6 tabling on a 2405FPW???
And can you 4 table w/ no overlap in 1360 x 768???

each game is 800x600 so if you've got 1920x1200, you can fit 6 missing no vertical parts, but horizontally you need 2400x1200 and only have 1920, so you'll be missing 480 total. this is 160 per table or less than 1/4 of each table.

it doesn't matter if the monitor is 50'x50', if the resolution is 1360x768, then u can't fit 4 800x600 tables

for no overlap, you need (800*2)x(600x2)=1600x1200 resolution

if u find a 15" monitor that does 1600x1200, then that works just as well as a 200" monitor that does 1600x1200

u can't resize the tables, so u need the resolution

make sure your card supports dual displays before you go out and get the monitors

lucky me, I was reading yesterday that the Ti 4600 Nvidia was one of the first cards they came out with that specifically had support for dual displays!!!
It also came with that
nVIEW software I mentioned and it seems like it's easy to set up 2 displays...
I've never done it, but I think you have to tell it where/if your monitors are side-by-side or one on top of the other or what...

Also, as a side note, I am going to look for updated drivers for the card, as I'm sure they are out there somewhere (the card I have was bought 3 + years ago and these monitors are brand new, so I def. think I need to get updates! lol)
thanks,
Joe M.
