move up a little in limits (I currently play 1/2-2/4 but I'm looking toward a 2/4-3/6 [NL] or so now) and figure out if I can actually do this for a living (looked like I could but those taxes make it somewhat iffy for me right now). I also need more experience against the better players that play those limits (they're also mostly the same ones at limits higher up even)
Goal is to make the most correct decisions I can. (will only be playing half of the month or so)

That's awesome if you get it. Just from some rough estimates, assuming you 4 table for 3 hours everyday at 80 hands an hour, you would need a winrate of around 17 PTBB/100 to get there I think.
