Is that because of his likely pre-flop raising hands that he would play like that on the flop, we are ahead of more than we are behind, and he will probably call with most of his hands that we beat? Fold to a 3-bet, right?

c/ring the river and folding to a 3bet kills metagame kittens by the truckload. I like betcall most of the time on that river and checkcall against a particularly scary opponent.

[Intent]

as long as 1/2 still means 1/2 and not 100/200, I never do the bet/fold to a 3 bet line. Your opponents are not thinking that much, don't over think the situation and get fancy. This looks like an overpair, or possibly an overplayed AT or something like it. I'd bet/call the river. The way he played it, I have a very hard time thinking he has a J, unless it's JJ.
