2/4 quasi-blind defense rivers 2 pair.
Empire 400NL. We're 7 handed.
Villain (42/10/2.5) has $204, I cover. I get A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] J [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] in the BB. 2 folds, Villain raises to $14. Folded to me, I call. Flop is 9 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Q [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] I check, Villain bets $22. I call. Turn is 9 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] I bet $45. Villain calls. River is J [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] I check, Villain bets $45. I call. Like or dislike? Ryan |

Seems like a good line, although I would probably lead on the flpo.

Re: 2/4 quasi-blind defense rivers 2 pair.
Why? What purpose does this serve? I don't want to fold out non-ace hands when I'm almost guaranteed to make a bet off them do I?

VB river. He can't raise with a worse hand with the 9s paired.

He can't raise w/ AQ here? Why would he think I have a 9. I'm generally viewed as pretty tight btw.

AQ beats you. And you called a raise in the BB, your range certainly includes hands with 9s.

Re: 2/4 quasi-blind defense rivers 2 pair.
I know AQ beats me... and that's the hand I'm worried about which is one of the reasons I'm check calling instead of betting.
Perhaps betting out is best... if I bet out, how much would you recommend and I'm guessing that I have to fold to a raise, right? |

Re: 2/4 quasi-blind defense rivers 2 pair.
Yeah, that's what I'm saying. If you check/call you are going to be putting money in only when you're behind because he'll check behind with anything you beat but value bet anything that beats you. So it's better to value bet it yourself because you can safely fold to a raise. Bet as much as he'll call with AK. I probably bet $75.
Edit: Didn't realise he was so short stacked. Now that I re-read the OP, I probably bet more on the turn and just push the river. Or else bet less on the turn so there is room to fold the river. But I'm really not looking to fold a good two pair heads up with only 50bb stacks. I like PSB on turn, push river. |
