Default Buy-ins for NL games

Is there a rule of thunb to use if they dont have a set min/max buy in for a NL game.

Ex. bellagio offers 2/5nl $200.00 min/max.
But i've seen some casinos open a 5/10nl game.

Whats the rule of thumb for what you need to sit in nl games?

Is there one?

I understand limit, 30+BB and what not.

How about NL?

Thanks!

Buy in enough to cover any of the players who are worse than you.

Buy in for the max, and have several more max buyins in your pocket. If that's too much money, then play a smaller game.

Every NL game I've ever seen has had a max buy-in. It may not be listed at the board showing the games but there is one.

Yes I've seen alot with only a min.

So theres no rule of thumb with NL as to a buy in.

Basically above the min and what you can afford, with regards to re-buy?

Online max buy-ins are often 100BB so you could try starting there.

cover people you're better than, not people who are better than you. play a stack size you're comfortable playing, in relation to the blinds and standard pfr.

if all else fails, buy shortish to start - you can always add on.
