Seeing someone you know at a B&M

It is probably not best to make any comments where others can hear in relation to:

How good they are.
Chip stack size.
Why they have the chip stack size they do.
How they are running.

honestly if you are playing low limits it dosent matter what you say the fish are there to GAMBOOOOOOOOOOOL and nothing is going to stop them. Phil Ivey could sit down at a 2/4 table and most people would still stay and play, mainly because the majority of fish in a low limit game actually believe poker is all luck and they have the smae chance against anyone they play.

I play .5/1 online (35k hands, 3BB/100) (just starting a little 1/2) I'd like to try 2/4 in Atl Cty when I'm ready.

I was under the impression 2/4 players online were generally fairly tight/competent/tricky/knowledgable. I'm certainly not ready for them. Would the average B&M 2/4 crowd not be their approximate equal?

2/4 at a B&M is vastly different than 2/4 online. 2/4 B&M is more like .25/.50 on PP (or whatever is the lowest level on the site you play on). In fact 3/6 at the cardroom I play at regularly is the same.

Hi ZP:

Do you mean like .25/50 on Pacific Poker? I learned to play on Pacific Poker and beat their .25/50 and .50/1 soundly before I moved to Party .5/1, which is a definate step up. I can handle almost any Party .5/1 table now, and am even getting comfortable with tight tables and starting to play 1/2. I would consider Pacific .25/.50 like a walk on the beach. Surely you don't mean the average B&M 2/4 is like Pacific Nano-Limits, do you?

Look at it this way, 2/4 is the lowest limit available at a B&M in fact it's often times 3/6 or 4/8. That means that anyone caught up in the 'craze' that wants to give live play a try at their local cardroom/casino would probably be playing these limits (they don't want to risk too much). This means lots of newbies, fishies and the like. Put away all your fancy plays and play solid poker for these types of tables for sure, but be prepared for some bad beats because it can be no foldem holdem!
