I guess Ben Frankin said It best "Neither a lender or a borrower be unless you have a lien on the MoFo's house".

Re: Party Poker Scam---BEWARE!!
Hate to dig up old threads, but this scammer is still on the loose! I am attempting to track down this guy to help a friend who was scammed.
He was most recently found on UltimateBet. I have searched rigorously through this forum for clues about him, and have compiled the following information, along with information I have obtained on my own. If anyone has ANYTHING to add, post information or message me, and I will add it to the list! ---------------------------- How he scams:
[*]'chip dumps' to you, and asks you to write a Western Union Money Order for ammt dumped, you keep a small profit.[*]After you have gained trust (profits add up!), he 'transfers' more money to you, you send out WesternUnion, and later find out he never transferred[*]Uses "The Check is in the mail!" scam[*]Tries to get login/password of your account[*]Picks up WesternUnion MO somewhere in Revere, MA
Other characteristics:
[*]Hates to use NetTeller[*]Bad typing[*]Possibly smells like vinegar (okay, I made that one up)[*]Disappears for weeks, claims family tragedy (Most recently, claims mother died, went to Georgia)
Claimed Names:
[*]Louis Lepore (most recent, Western Union sent in this name)[*]Mark Conners (claims Louis is a friend who picks up $)[*]Phil Cosco[*]Nick Czerwinski
AOL names/email:
[*]biglou123456789 (@aol.com)[*]legggggggy32 (@aol.com)[*]Rbaze12345 (@aol.com ??)
UltimateBet names:
[*]letsgoallin2 (recent)[*]Johnwins788[*]Debbie1982[*]obt (most recent, NOT confirmed, might be an innocent bystander)
PokerStars names:
[*]AllInTime123[*]debs1982[*]titans555[*]lostboy37 (might be different person)
PartyPoker:
[*]hnk7289 (might be different person)
PayPal Information: (He may have stolen this acct, info removed for security)
[*]Name: (removed)[*]Address: (removed)[*]City/State/Zip: Revere, MA 02151[*]Country: United States[*]Telephone: (781) xxx-xxxx (number removed)[*]PayPal Email: aces8000 @ aol.com
---------------------------- Anyone else have info to add? |

Think of it in Poker/Economic Terms...
I'm not a tournament player, so I'm not sure what the buy in is or how it works. but let's say you value the seat at $180 (that is, the most amount you'd pay is $180) and the guy is giving it to you for $90.
that means that he'd have to actually get you a seat only 50% of the time for it to be a break-even exchange for you. just because you got screwed this time doesn't mean you made a poor decision. it's obvious from your AIM conversation that you were aware of the risk involved. it sucks, but that's life. |
