Pokertracker and importing a database

i got a new computer and have already started using PT on it, etc. now, i want to import the data base from my older laptop, that had PT on it first. so, if i import the database from my old laptop, will it delete the new data base on my new desktop?

secondly, can i just run an ethernet cable between the two computers to import the old database?
