Hold\'em in London.
I was wondering if anyone had any experience with limit or no-limit hold'em in London, England. I am going to be there on business and have a couple of weekday nights to kill. I know that hold'em is played at some of the more upscale clubs (Ritz, ect.) but I was looking for somthing a little more friendly with free membership and not overrly touristed crap (Hard Rock London), but still having nice sorroundings. Thank you for your help.

The Victoria Casino, known as "The Vic", on Edgware Road has some good PL Hold'em games. They have a self-dealt 1-2 pound PL Hold'em that sometimes tends to be a round of each Hold'em/Omaha game. I spent a lot of time in London last year and enjoyed "The Vic" cardroom a lot. I wish I was there right now in fact.

id certainly reccomend the gutshot. make sure you bring ID and you will have no trouble. very friendly club.
the vic on the other hand might ask you to wait 24 after "joining". they certainly used to im not sure if thats still the case. dont expect to play LHE whever you go though, its a shame but people here just dont want to play it. there are sometimes high stakes limit games at the vic, but thats about it. gutshot has lots of lowish buy in MTT, as well as PLO/NLH ring games, and a decent bar/resaurant to go with it.

The 24 hour wait has now been abolished so can goto the vic and play if have passport.
Wont find NL or Limit will all be Pot Limit. From what you have said prob the Gutshot, there is a self deal £25 sit in PL game with usually a dealer £50 min buy in where by reports most people are sitting with £300+ and its a loose game, there is also somtimes £100 and £250 games going. Most nights there are tournaments with the cash games getting going after these, Saturday afternoons used to be a good cash game £50 max sit down but dealer dealt with sometimes a round of PLO and Holdem, but I havent been for a while on a sat. www.gutshot.co.uk has details of the tournaments and cash games normallly running.
