Default Reraising at or near the bubble

General thought, but situation something like

4-6 people left, you and villian around 15BB stacks, villian raises 3 BBs, you come over the top and put him allin.

$55s and below - VILLIAN NEVER FOLDS.

Just an exaggeration of an observation, not a complaint. I usually have a better hand than villian.

I don't necessarily agree with your assumption. But I have gone on streaks like this. Obviously you're referring once again to the "reverse gap" principal. Anyway, I've found that this works best when it's four/five (not six) handed, and there is a shorter stack (or two) not in the hand.

Let's be careful not to make any poor decisions here without reads. If we're talking about a tight player, who rarely plays a hand, I'd easily fold, because he likely feels committed to his AJ hand.

Things do come in streaks. At some point I will look at a bunch of data and try and get close to figuring out what people do.

In the mean time I just thought I'd see what the communities impression was.

It seems like most players are calling with hands like A7.

key. my last game (5-handed, 12-15BBs), i held a push-worthy hand in the blinds (but NOT necessarily call-worthy). button made what too-often appears like a simple move on the blinds (3x). i pushed over the top ("not my blind buddy"), he flipped KK.

not the norm certainly, but a read or awareness of villian's style is critical putting your stack on the line for this well-timed move.

just to remove the atmosphere of blind-stealing/blind-protecting, i think this is better reserved for EP/MP (with the added incentive of picking up the blinds)

Well, with regards to streaks, I think a lot of monkeys have learned that bigger stacks sometimes reraise them with trash, so they've "learned" if you will, to call because they are ahead.

Also, I would consider when you're playing. Saturday nights, I agree, they're calling with A7.

You are picking up the blinds (trying to) whether you are in them or not. Earlier position just increases the possibility of running into something in later position.

Actually, as far as bad decisions go, I'm much more concerned that I'm not reraising people enough. Like I said, I usually end up having a better hand.

isn't that a good thing if you've got a better ace in your hand?

Yeah, but there are a lot of situations, especially on the bubble where one might reraise someone allin with a weaker hand, assuming that they can only call you with, say QQ-AA. If that were true, then you could reraise with any two cards in many situations.
