Default (2/4) Did i fold the best hand here?

UB 2/4

Hero is BB with 8 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 8 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]
Villian is in the CO (26/10/2.8 through 50 hands)

EP1 calls, LP calls, Villian Raises, SB folds, BB calls, EP calls, LP calls

Flop A [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 6 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 2 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]
Everyone checks

Turn 7 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]

Hero Bets, EP folds, LP folds, CO raises, Hero Folds

I think i definately played this weakly. Villian probably put me on a steal bet and decided to bully me of the pot. Looking back i don't think there is any way the villian has an Ace here (king high, flush draw, possibly a PP)

Comments..?

I think Villain had you beat. A king-high flush draw isn't all that likely mathematically, and I don't think most 2/4 players would semibluff-raise with that in this spot anyway (since they'll fear that you have an ace).

If he's got a pocket pair and is raising because he feels you would have led the flop with an ace, well, then he's got you beaten anyway. And even if you change his mind with a 3-bet, there's a good chance he'd call you down anyway. Small Stakes players generally don't give up big pairs easily.

I think CO has an ace though -- or maybe two of them. (Some people like to get tricky when they flop big.) 77 is another possibility.

He is pretty aggressive, and possibly you were ahead. But the fold looks good to me.

The big problem was not betting on the flop. If you bet and got raised, at least you would know that you were probably up against an ace

I like the fold unless you have a specific read on Villain that he checks top pair, weak kicker on the flop and does charming things such as raising flush draws on the turn. Nice fold.

If he just calls your flop bet, aren't you in pretty much the same spot?

Why not 3bet preflop? Then bet the flop and see what happens.

3 people plus the poster in the BB is very multiway? Plus the fact that they're gonna have to call two cold... I don't know. True, we're OOP. But is that strong enough reason to not try to cut down the field and push our probable equity edge?

Based on your opponent's pre-flop numbers and what I've heard of UBs games (tighter and more passive than Party) Villian shows you AA/AK here A LOT. Tight players who feel like they're not getting enough action will resort to doing tricky stuff like this because it puts less money at risk than playing more hands more aggressivly to get action.
