Default Odds

If I have a inside straight draw coming. I have then four outs/46 cards=1:11. The odds must be lower if there are before turn than before river? After flop I two chances to complete but after turn I only have one chance to complete the straight? Regards/Mike

The simple rule of thumb is, after the flop, multiply your outs by 4 on the turn and by 2 after the turn to get your percentage to hit your hand.

While the first response offers a good trick to remember, heres the technical math for you.

(catching the straight on turn)
4/47 = 0.085
(catching the straight on river)
4/46 = 0.087
(catching the straight by river)
(4/47)+(4/46) = 0.172

You have close to a 17% chance of hitting your inside straight by the river. (4.88 to 1 against)

best of "luck".

Thanks! Do you also know how to calculate "a backdoor flush draw" (1:23)?
