Default Trends we will see at WSOP 2005...

Of the estimated 6000 participants, I expect to see:

At least 20 people wearing "FossilMan" shades, ala Greg Raymer.
At least 15 people wearing hooded sweatshirts and sunglasses "Unibomber" style ala Phil Laak.
At least 10 people wearing upside down shades ala Marcel Luske.

Isn't TV great?

Probably.

I have a really goofy pair of Mardi-Gras sunglasses that I was intending on wearing if I ever made it to the WSOP...but now it just seems like it's all been done before.

Marcel has his upside-down shades...Phil Laak has his hood...Chan has his orange...Sammy has the unlit cigarette...etc etc.

Now, it just seems like if you have ANY kind of prop then it's just lame because you're trying too hard (even if it isn't a direct copy from Marcel or Fossilman or whoever).

I would probably just go with sport-jacket and slacks...probably with sunglasses as well (of the 'normal' variety) because of my tell-giving paranoia.

When i wear a sports-coat to play a little 10/20 or something it's not uncommon for 1 or 2 people to come up to me asking for a comp.

Of course, I haven't even qualified for the WSOP yet so it's probably a bit early to be wardrobe planning.

I would wait till I was in the money before I would be using any prop!
But that won't stop anybody else from being like their Hero's.

If I wear underwear on my head will you all please tell me how incredibly original I must be to do that at the WSOP.

Maybe I'll just sit there with a bunch of Star Wars action figures lined-up in front of me.
I'll have a different one for card-capping purposes depending on what position I am relative to the button (Han Solo for UTG...Chewbacca for on the button..etc etc).
Then I'll make some 'May the force be with you' comments as well as some light-saberish 'woosh-woosh' type noises every time I make a bet.

Would that make me cool?

Would these be considered cheating?

- Why did you fold your kings?
- I saw you playing with Yoda, I knew you had aces.
