Re: Fold pocket Aces??
"Here's a case where you should fold 'em:
Your "friend" has been dealing all night. He has been dealt quads three times, and has rivered a flush to beat your set on three occasions. He frequently shoots his cuffs and winks at the guy in the corner. You're ahead now, but will definitely be beat by the river. Fold." I was reading this in my university's library. After reading this I was laughing uncontrollably for about 10 min. Everyone was staring at me but I just could not stop laughing. Hilarious. Do not even think about folding here. Calling virtually guarantees that at least one of them will be knocked out. Call, stand up, and say "Aces sucka faces!" Then taunt them a little more and throw the table over when you get outdrawn. |

Re: Fold pocket Aces??
NO. Call call and call every time in this situation. Everyone has relatively short stacks... you get dealt pocket aces, get a chance to push all of your chips in preflop and you are thinking about folding???
The fact that you lost is irrelevant to the situation. You were a huge favorite to win preflop. Calling is definitely +EV. |

Re: Fold pocket Aces??
I never gave one thought to folding (remember I instacalled), but I woke up in the middle of the night screaming "You went all in with THAT?", "Jesus Christ what a suckout," and other assorted stuff.

"- a big bubble in an MTT (like the jump from 4th to 3rd is
usually pretty big, same w/ 3rd to 2nd. This situation happens when two stacks of same size go all in before you like the hand you mentioned, but keep reading." No, that is not a good spot to fold your AA unless you aren't playing to win. Play for the win, not for the next money spot. And that is certainly a spot I would love to be in with AA. |

Re: Fold pocket Aces??
I'm new to the Multi-table forums--I used to play SnGs mostly, and stayed to the 1-table forums.
I'm impressed by how many people in this forum actually took this question seriously, and gave thoughtful answers. In the 1-table forums, they would just flame the OP to hell, screaming "no bad beat posts." I think I prefer the 1-table forums. |

Re: Fold pocket Aces??
That's because talking like that about an SNG tournament is stupid. You lose at most an amount that you shouldn't care about at the level you're playing in with an SNG. For MTTs it can raise questions when you get your ass kicked by a bad beat for a large lump of change.
In other words, emotions can get the best of you when that kind of stuff happens for an MTT. But for an SNG, if emotion gets the best of you about the bad beat or the money then you deserve to get flamed for it. |
