I'm not positive that I've ever had anything other than mediocre Mexican food [/ QUOTE ] I don't know how I'll be able to go back to Seattle mexican food after having Vegas mexican food. Gardunos in the palms and Viva Mercados on flamingo are head and shoulders above any mexican food I've had outside of mexico. |

Brutal indictment of seattle mexican food there.
Gardunos has been solid mediocre for me. Have not been to viva mercados, but the word 'viva' in the name is not promising. |

Re: Yo, Seattle Posters
Well, i shouldn't quite put gardunos on the same level of viva mercados. I just remember the salsa from gardunos knocking me over.
Also, you should go to Viva Mercados. It looks like a hole in the wall in some crappy strip mall, but it's outstanding. It's on Flamingo and Jones. |

Re: Yo, Seattle Posters
I'll second the voice for Sunday brunch at Salty's on Alki. The view of downtown across the water is spectacular, and the food is even better. If you go, prepare to stuff yourself silly. For dinner, though, I prefer Anthony's Pier 66 (make sure it's Pier 66 and not a Homeport) for a restaurant in the same price range ($20-$30 per entree) and genre. The view isn't quite as good, but I like the food better. If you go there, make sure you order their crab and corn chowder. It's out of this world.
Also, if you're grabbing a quick lunch, Anthony's Pier 66 has a great fish, chips and chowder bar located directy below their main restaurant. Edit: Lastly, if you want a beer, visit the Elysian microbrew located at 1221 E Pike St. Their porter and their ESB are two of the best beers I've ever tried. |

Re: Yo, Seattle Posters
About five years ago, I bought a bowl of clam chowder at a lunch-counter/dive/tourist-trap located a few yards north of the Alaskan ferry terminal. They served it to me in a styrofoam bowl with a plastic spoon and some cellophane-encased Sunhine saltines. It was the best clam chowder I'd had in decades. I had three bowls of the stuff. Maybe some of the Seattlites know the name of the place. On the other hand, maybe I hallucinated it.
