AK vs MegaStation
Guy is 62/15/0.8 Went to showdown 40%
He'll call with any draw on flop, but he has folded to my 2nd bullet on A37 board (granted, drawless that time). He'll also pursue calling with most any pair. EXAMPLE : Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ Hero (6 max, 6 handed) FTR converter on zerodivide.cx Hero ($152.37) UTG ($24.70) MP ($53.35) CO ($17.80) Button ($25.90) SB ($71.78) Preflop: Hero is BB with 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. SB posts a blind of $0.25. 2 folds, CO raises to $1, 1 fold, SB (poster) calls $0.75, Hero calls $0.50. Flop: ($3) 7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (3 players) SB checks, Hero bets $3, CO folds, SB calls $3. Turn: ($9) 2[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players) SB checks, Hero bets $7, SB calls $7. River: ($23) 4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players) Villain pushes 61, Hero calls $61. Results in white below: SB has 4d 4c (three of a kind, fours). Hero has 8h 6d (straight, nine high). Now on to the hand : Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (6 max, 6 handed) FTR converter on zerodivide.cx Hero ($121.87) BB ($25.95) UTG ($54.10) MP ($8) CO ($23.15) Button ($117.03) Preflop: Hero is SB with K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. Hero posts a blind of $0.25. 3 folds, Button raises to $1, Hero (poster) raises to $3.75, 1 fold, Button calls $3. Flop: ($8.50) J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 2[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players) Hero bets $6, Button calls $6. Re: AK vs MegaStation
First hand is awesome of course.
Second hand, do you think your A high is good?? Otherwise, why are you cont. betting into the station? Looks like you just got super lucky here. Why not bet the river much bigger, if he calls anything? I have found cont. betting into call stations w/ no pair to generally be a very bad idea. |

Re: AK vs MegaStation
On the flop, I CB'd because there was a great chance I was still ahead (Check-call might be a viable option ?). On the turn, I thought he might let go with 3rd spade showing (yeah, stations are stations lol, bad idea). He did call a lot with overcards too so I thought I might as well keep the lead to not have to fold to his potential mediocre turn bet. The added FD was what tipped the scale, else I was probably check-folding and hating it.
I think I lost some value on the river. He had T-high flush w T8o BTW. How much he'd call I don't know .. 25 ? 30 ? |

Re: AK vs MegaStation
Button raised pre-flop, so there's the chance he's got an Ax type of hand. Your only worry is the A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. Otherwise he might've been holding something like Q [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 10 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. Still, the preflop raise bugs me here. I would assume having the best hand, but not go for the big payday.

Re: AK vs MegaStation
Wow - this guy is something else. In hand #2, I'd check the turn when you pick up the flush draw go go with your two overcards.

Re: AK vs MegaStation
Yo.
I'm not a big fan of continuation betting into stations OOP. Yes, you could have the best hand, but how much do you want to invest with A high here against someone who will call down if he pair his Q3o he called your raise with? On the turn, I don't mind the best here as much, might as well fire another bullet, but I'd make it slightly more. River is Ok. I'ts hard to know how much these donks will call off. Next time push. Re: AK vs MegaStation
I thought you played the first hand perfectly. However, the second hand is another story.
I like the re-raise pf to get rid of the BB. I don't like the continuation bet on the flop because you're almost certain to get called. If you're going to follow-up on the turn, you need to bet enough to make this guy consider folding (17-20 sounds about right). 11.00 only serves as a blocker (which is OK if that's your intent). I hate the river bet; what's the reason for betting so little? I find it hard to believe that a 30.00 bet (at the very least) won't get called. |
