Pharma gives the small firms startup money and lets them develope the medication. Even for rare types of cancer.

[/ QUOTE ]

That's somewhat inaccurate (but the rest of the post is good). Big pharma buys late-stage products from biotechs but the start-up money (for the biotech) is coming from investors.

And this is the most ironic. These companies are struggling to get a few million $ to keep them running and they DO kill promising projects because of the lack of funding. However PartyPoker can easily attract billions $ of investment. Poeple want drugs but they give money for more gambling? Hmmm...

Wasn't lucrative enough for them to make a profit

[/ QUOTE ]

Do you really think a cure for cancer wouldn't be lucrative enough to turn a profit? I guess it does make for a good, "Greedy Corporations are Evil" story.

[/ QUOTE ]

I have a vague recollection of this same story, and the drug would have been profitable in a free market economy. This is what happens when the government is involved..

But it is well known that big pharma don't even bother to do research on rare forms of cancer (i.e. no siginificant return) or widespread diseases amongst poor poeple (see malaria).

[/ QUOTE ]

Uh, they don't research malaria because there already is a cure. Widespread diseases get the most research because the profit margin per pill can be very small yet the profits humongous.

Tried the video but it did not work for me but it says right there that it saved her life and they are no longer making it (emphasis added).

Gotta love CNN.

(ImmTher is) still in clinical trials and although it worked well in Allie's case, doctors haven't determined how effective it is.

KHOU link

The KHOU story is from May 2004. There is no date on the CNN story.

I agree with your post completely. To add, people view this as bad customer treatment. That makes me think, LOL. It should be evident for everyone that Party and Empire would at some point get into a hard fight (Empire undermining Party's affiliate/ no RB-policy). What Party has done now is make the SKIN-CUSTOMERS unhappy, the Party customers are as happy as ever. A skin customer was obviously not very valuable for Party and thus they did not care too much. The party CEO is just smarter than you guys, since he has attracted the fish (own them) and he knows that you run wherever the fish goes. 1-0 to him.

This is the perfect example of what's wrong with the original cure for cancer analogy. Theres a difference between a "cure" and a "treatment." and American News Programs (especially the 24 hour cable ones) love to exaggerate.

Malaria can be cured with prescription drugs. The type of drugs and length of treatment depend on which kind of malaria is diagnosed, where the patient was infected, the age of the patient, and how severely ill the patient was at start of treatment.
