Default Got to call this?

UTG raiser is tight, other guy is pretty loose.

2/4NL $300 stacks for me and UTG, button has slightly less.

UTG raises to $20, button calls, I call in SB with JJ.
(Pot $64)

Flop 9TJ rainbow. I lead out for $48, UTG calls, button pushes all in for approx $200 more.

Whats my move. I am fairly sure UTG has AA/KK/QQ as he seems very very tight.

I did call, and he did indeed have the straight (with 78) and i filled up.

I got abuse by a few people saying how could i call when i obviously beat. Surely his range tho includes 99 and TT and even if he does have the straighti have odds to fill up.

Thanks for reassuring me!

Call this everyday and twice on Sundays. Pushing with the ass end of the straight is more scary to me than calling a push with top set on a straight draw board.

It's costing you like $200 to win about $420 already in the pot. You're about a 2 to 1 dog to the flopped straight.

Nice call.

Quick estimate off the top of my head:
-40% of the time he has 99 or TT and your crushing him.
-10% of the time he has something stupid like AA or KK and your crushing him.
-50% of the time he has a str8.
you have a 35% chance of boating up if he does. that means of that 50% you will win %17.5 and lose %32.5

If this us true your going to win this 67% of the time.
Ignoring the 2 beats of course.

I just pulled those numbers out of the air, Im just rambling to say I'm sure its +EV.

As for people giving you a hard time. That pisses me off to no end.
When he went all in did he want a call? YES
When he saw you call was he glad? YES
If he had won would he have a problem? NO

What an f-ing joke people like this are.
How do they think they can beat poker if they dont get any calls when they have the best of it?
Ya everytime this guy makes a hand, everyone else gets a sense that they are behind and folds like dominoes, and he picks up a tiny pot. Thats going to work great.
No understanding of this game at all.

Edit: In my ramblings, (mostly fueled by being annoyed you where put down for this call ) I didnt even mention the 2:1 odds you where getting on the call.
