think this will be so bad. The fish will play a game in which they are only a slight underdog as opposed to poker where they stand almost no chance. Maybe win a bit and then go gamble at the poker table.

[/ QUOTE ]

It's a -EV game. The fish will collectively lose net money on BJ. This means less money on the tables for them to lose to us.

Put it this way: Joe Fish decides to gamble online tonight. Do you want his first chance to lose money be on BJ or at the poker table? If he does BJ first, the odds are not on his getting to the poker table with more money to lose to 2+2ers.

ya but if joe fish was not a poker player at all but a black jack player he would have never been here. BJ allows the other BJ fishes to come here and try out poker. thus giving us more fishes.

And another thing: this guy makes it possible for you to do what you do. Why dont you show him some respect. He chooses to live his life in a certain way, and it is a far more conventional way of doing things than the way we do it. (not saying thats good or bad)

Im sure we've all been in the situation where someone asks us what we do and then you can feel that they have a different opinion of you afterwards. They look down upon you a little. Not saying we should care about that and Im sure most of us dont. However, we know what it is like to have someone sneer at us for the way we choose to live our life. We of all people should be sensitive to those that choose to do things differently from us.

I'm a lawyer and make about $120K per year. So I'm gambling away about 10% of my paycheck. Not too bad, but not necessarily good.

I've tried to learn how to play by reading posts here, but I'm usually too tired after working most of the day to put much concentration into it.

why is everyone taking this so seriously? no one here is offending him. he plays strictly for fun and not to make money since he is a rich sob already. why not play with some of the 2+2'ers instead of giving away money to others. and having a good time. i mean no disrespect.

You really think lots of people are going to come to Party just to play BJ and then migrate over to poker? If you're an online BJ player, Party is not prominent in your thinking. There are lot of other established casinos offering BJ for a long time.

Party would have to massively market the BJ option to attract a BJ-based mass of players. And given their situation, those marketing dollars are going to be spent on their bread and butter = poker.

The guy works hard, is probably smarter and more successful than you, and likes to let of a bit of steam and have some entertainment at the weekends.

Well put.

I have trouble understanding the disrespect a lot of people show recreational players. I think it 1) shows a complete lack of class, and 2) often exposes a sense of inferiority. These are the same guys that yell at players for outrageous suckouts (whereas those of us with the maturity level of 5 year olds type in "nh" and move on).

I still maintain a sence of arrogance when dealing with fish like this, he has to get up in the morning and do something he probably doesnt want to do. So he makes a little more money then me? so what? I am doing what I want to do, I think that makes me a more successful person. Not that I berate fish at the table or anything, I dont, my chat is turned off at all times and I think its stupid in the first place.

Sorry. I didn't mean to come across as a rich snob. From reading the posts of some of the full-time pros here I assumed that my income was inline with most of them. A little more than some and a little (or in some cases a lot) less than others.

And as for not liking what I do some days that is definitely true. Most days I would rather be playing poker than re-writing a memo for the sixth time. C'est la vie.

Just wanted to chime in on the "snob" thing, since no one has addressed it. I think he called you a "rich S.O.B.", not "rich snob", which was mistakenly taken for a typo by another poster.
